Position Title: Civil / Structural Designer (Midlevel Designer)

Reports to: Civil / Structural Design Supervisor

Position Status: Permanent – Full Time

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Location: Pasadena, TX / Corpus Christi, TX (Hybrid)

Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.

Purpose: Execute civil and structural design projects related to heavy industrial facilities under the leadership of a Senior Designer. This will include organization and planning of the overall design effort with minimal oversight, and the limited mentoring of junior designers and draftsmen.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specification and codes.
• Develop civil/structural 3D models and 2D extractions under minimal supervision utilizing AutoCAD and CADWorx
• Knowledgeable of basic civil material specifications to the extent that all information required for material purchase, fabrication and construction is reflected on the finished drawings.
• Perform field related work collecting design information and verifying designs for tie-ins, function and clearances to existing facility.
• Perform field support activities, where assigned, for engineering support during construction.
• Ability to check and back check drawings produced by drafting personnel.
• Interact with designers and engineers within the civil/structural group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction forces.
• Works with client to resolve problems.
• Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook as well as the H+M Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager or Supervisor as needed.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of AutoCAD experience in heavy industrial projects
• Utilize 3D laser scans as a modeling and design tool
• Experience providing modeling/design support for small to mid-capital projects
• Knowledgeable understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds
• Sit for long periods of time
• Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch
• Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects

Environment: Most work time is spent in an office or home office environment.
